Given the output of the film “Angels & Demons” based on the novel by Dan Brown, RomeConnection organized for all the fans, a tour on the Path of Illumination. Here are some details of the implementation of the film:

Read information about Angels & Demons Tour
In 2003, Sony Pictures acquired the copyright of the novels Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code.
On 20 May 2006 started the pre-production, and 23 has been reconfirmed as screenwriter Akiva Goldsman and Brian Grazer, John Calley as producers. It was announced that Sony Pictures has paid $ 4,000,000 Goldsman for his screenplay.
On May 25 of that year, Sky News reported the news of the possible employment of Steven Spielberg as director. To reinforce this argument, there was the announcement of Ron Howard (The Da Vinci Code) of its commitment in The Changeling.
In early October 2007, Columbia Pictures has announced the return of director Ron Howard, and set a date for starting work on 18 February 2008, which coincide to avoid the departure of the film with the strike of the screenwriters of the Hollywood set May. In mid-November has been confirmed the postponement of filming the second half of 2008, with the date moved forward to May 15 2009, owing to the start of the strike.
Before the beginning of processing, screenwriter David Koepp has been formed to revise the script Goldsman to make it more appropriate to cinema and to treat it as a sequel of The Da Vinci Code (Angels and Demons was published in Italy after the success obtained the first novel and is in first story of The Da Vinci Code) to maintain a continuation in time between the two films.
Filming began in Piazza del Popolo (Rome) on Thursday 5 June 2008 at 12:00 or so. The following morning, was closed to traffic Corso Vittorio Emanuele II to shoot a scene of high-speed chase, sequences involved in Tom Hanks, Pierfrancesco Favino and other smaller members of the cast.
From June 9-10 shooting took place in the Pantheon, and up to 12 should have been turn Lungotevere and Ponte Sant’Angelo, but because of the visit of President George W. Bush in the Vatican have been postponed to June 20.
On 16 June 2008, the Diocese of Rome refused to cast the opportunity to film inside the church Santa Maria del Popolo and Santa Maria della Vittoria.
On June 17, were shot in the interior of the church in St. Augustine and Angelica library near Piazza Navona
After the shooting outdoors in Piazza del Popolo and the Pantheon, to address the lack of original location, namely inside places of worship, the director Ron Howard has re-created environments of St. Peter, the hearing room and gardens in the Vatican Palace Caserta, entirely requisitioned for three days, June 17-20. More shots were carried out in the Palatine Library in Parma, to recreate the Vatican library.
On the evening of June 21, were filmed several sequences in Piazza San Bernardo, Santa Maria della Vittoria and Via Torino.Dalla Monday June 23 until the following day, they have completed the shooting indoors at Castel Sant’Angelo.
The following month, the troupe has moved to Los Angeles (California, USA), where 10 was filming a sequence of 15 seconds at the University of California with Tom Hanks in bicycle along the trail for runners.
The second unit filming has moved to CERN in Geneva to take pictures and make videos of particles
all’acceleratore Large Hadron Collider, audiovisual material that was installed during the post-production.

The implementation of the Basilica Superiore di Assisi is a direct consequence of that was sull’Ordine succession in 1239 to Friar Elia of new fathers general of French origin.

Above the shape of Romanesque Lower Basilica was built a new Basilica in Gothic style, both made with the pink stone of Mount Subasio.

With the construction of the Basilica Superiore will complete the construction of the Basilica as a whole:

- The Lower Basilica monumental crypt intended to pilgrims and the veneration of relics to the Holy

- The Upper Basilica dedicated to official meetings and able to host, sitting on a throne reserved for him, even the Pope

The Basilica of St. Francis was officially inagurata by Pope Innocent IV in 1253.

The Lower and Upper Basilica are related through a scale located in the left transept.

Followed to achieve architectural decorations to Cimabue fresco first (1277) in the area of the left transept (Frescoes from 27 to 32) and Giotto (1296) with the start of the general pictorial cycle of “Tales of St. Francis,” composed 28 works (Frescoes from 3 to 16 and 33 to 46).

To these are added those frescoes executed on the transept and nave on the right hand representing the cycles of the New and the Old Testament (Frescoes 1 and 2 from 17 to 26) executed by various “Masters” of the time.

Complete the monumental work on the frescoes painted vaults of the nave and transept.

The earthquake of September 26 has seriously damaged the Basilica Superiore species in the area of the transept forcing more than two years before the closure.

Besides the frescoes transept of the earthquake seriously damaged the exterior of the transept gable.

Here are divided by the nave and transept of the titles of all the frescoes on display in the Basilica Superiore.

The second numbering in the tables reflect the windows narrating “The Story of San Francesco” according to the classic version of St. Bonaventure.

Two years after the death of St. Francis began the construction of the Basilica of San Francesco.

March 29 was 1228 when Simon of Pucciarello donated to Pope Gregory IX the top of the hill where the Colle dell’Inferno were carried out the death sentences.

The Rule of Franciscan Poverty was clear and then Pope Gregory IX accepted the donation and then “turn” in perpetual use to the Friars in the hands of Brother Elia successor of Saint Francis and Peter Cattani.

The hill immediately changed the name of taking the name Colle del Paradiso and on this hill, which they say was expressly stated by St. Francis in point of death, the great abbey was built.

First built what today we call the Lower Basilica ..

Its shape is in Lombard Romanesque style with a single aisle and a large transept.

At his execution Brother Elia, the great organizer, sovrintendette in person.

In the Lower Basilica are costudite since 1230 the mortal remains San Francesco.

The sad fate of the sarcophagus containing the body of the saint.

In fact, until 1400 the remains were exposed to the veneration of the faithful in a niches under the central altar. Then the body was concealed to prevent diversion from the nearby Perugia. It was concealed very well if it remained hidden until 1818. Currently the body of the saint is preserved in the small crypt under the central altar of the Basilica.

In addition, the four corners of the crypt, were placed the bodies of the Blessed Friars Angelo (1258), Leone (1271) [the confessor of St. Francis], from Marignano Massee (1280) and Rufino (1249) [cousin of Santa Chiara] and, along the staircase that leads to the Basilica crypt, the body of the Blessed [Brother] Jacopa of Settesoli Roman noblewoman wife Graziano of Frangipani.

The Basilica is beautifully painted with works attributed to Giotto, Cimabue or their students.
Italian

In September 1943 Cassino was the first bombing that caused damage to houses and killing some civilians. The bombing, and later the artillery, hammering the area regularly for the next months, up to 3 more bloody attacks occurred respectively in January-February, March and May of 1944.

On Oct. 14 came to the ten Cassino. Schlegel Austrian colonel in command of Göring Panzer Division. These prospectus all’abate Gregory danger that we ran the Abbey, which soon would be at the center of German resistance against (Gustav line), and he, therefore, to make sure the majority of the treasures ‘Abbey itself (delivered in the Vatican on December 8, with a cargo of 120 lorries).

At the same time it was made and displaced people throughout the territory surrounding the Abbey, or the valley, the mountains nearby, and the town of Cassino became a real fortress with trenches, casemate, guns, tanks, minefields. Not just as happened to the monastery that was not fortified, at least until the Allies not destroyed by bombing (February 15 - the first phase of the battle).
At the end of the second phase of the battle (March 25) the city of Cassino was reduced to a heap of rubble, no nothing remained of its old character.
Only after the third phase of the battle (May 1944), with many losses on both sides, the Allies were able to seize the area marking the end of a nightmare.
